Students will begin taking books home from the school library on Monday, September 27th. Look for the book (stamped "Coonley Library" on the inside) in your child's backpack, and please enjoy it with them throughout the week!
We are switching library software this year, and unfortunately can't start student check-out until the 27th. Thanks for your patience! --Ms. Wiltse
Welcome to your school library! If you've never visited, feel free to stop in Room 305 anytime. We are so lucky to have a beautiful room with many books for our school to enjoy.
Coonley students K-8th grade will visit the library once a week for 40 minutes. Students will check out a book at this time, and also have a short library lesson (read-aloud, book based activity).
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students will take one book home each week, and it will be due the following week. If the student forgets their library book, they won't be allowed to check out a new book until they bring it back. While their classmates are checking out a new book, they will have an opportunity to 'browse' books, just not take one home. Please know that Ms. Wiltse is never angry or upset with a child when they forget their library book. It happens! (It happens to her a lot!) We simply remind them to bring the book the following week so that they have the enjoyment and practice of selecting a new title.
3rd - 8th grade students take home 2 library books every two weeks. Students should be reading longer books that may take more than a week to read. They are ALWAYS able to switch books sooner if they need to, by coming to see me before or after school.
We look forward to working with your Coonley student this year. Please email Ms. Wiltse with any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Nora Wiltse, Coonley Librarian
