Congressman Rahm Emmanuel and Alderman Gene Schulter along with Principal Katherine Kennedy-Kartheiser met with parents, community members and members of the press to announce the opening of a new Regional Gifted Center at Coonley Elementary School. 

Congressman Emmanuel noted that "Coonley has a diverse student population, engaged parents and neighbors, and a motivated faculty and administration.  It is a perfect example of a neighborhood school that goes toe-to-toe with any private school in the city". 

Alderman Schulter shared the communities excitement with having a variety of great educational options within the North Center community.
